As a child and youth medical specialist, trained in developmental/ behavioural paediatrics, I assess, diagnose and provide long term management and advocacy for children and adolescents with developmental concerns and disability, in partnership with families and other professionals.
I see young people with Autism, Attention and Learning problems, Behavioural issues , FASD and Intellectual challenges.
After 35 years helping children and their families in communities of Vancouver, Canada, I now hope to contribute to the lives of Queensland families
Beyond formal training, much of my knowledge and experience has been gained by listening to parents and children. I care deeply for kids with special challenges and for their families who work so hard to guide them to be their very best. I believe that partnering with parents and other professionals to help promote successful, resilient kids and inclusive attitudes in schools and communities will benefit us all.
Raised in Melbourne and trained to be a medical doctor at Monash University, my specialist training was completed through the University of British Columbia and the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and in Brisbane.
I trained as a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School under Jon Kabat Zinn and remain a firm believer in the health benefits of mindfulness and meditation.
I am passionate about my work and have a special interest in community-based research to increase knowledge about how best to coordinate services and reduce disability by focusing on a child’s strengths and building self-esteem through inclusiveness.
I love my three teenage girls and charming young nephew who lives with autism. All have taught me much about personal qualities that I value.
