Dr Phil Stacey
Clinical Psychologist Has Joined Our Team
Starting from the 15th of January 2019 Dr Phil Stacey will be working from the Better Life Centre in Kedron. Dr Phil is a highly experienced clinical psychologist with expertise in general, adolescent and young adult mental health. His experience includes general clinical psychology, lead clinician in an early psychosis team, and senior lecturer and course coordinator of the Master of Clinical Psychology.
Dr Phil has an integrated psychotherapy framework that incorporates cognitive-behavioural, family systems and psychodynamic/psychoanalytic frameworks. Much of Dr Phil’s work with patients involves working through the unhelpful and negative relational and behavioural patterns learnt in early life that continue to re-enact in the present, are resistant to short-term therapy and medication, and that often lead to anxiety and depressive syndromes.
In 2013 he launched the Headspace Mackay clinic and also managed primary mental health services across the Mackay and Whitsundays region. In 2015, he took over as Director of South Queensland region of the Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service. He is a Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisor for trainee and experienced psychologists and has an interest providing therapy and support to psychologists, counsellors and other health practitioners seeking to improve functioning. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
He will be here at the Better Life Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays and sees adolescents and adults.
